About my art

As I stated in my about me, I found my love for art in elementary school. I remember in art class we would do a lot of projects including abstract shapes and a lot of different fun crafts, I was obsessed, everyday I was looking forward to art class because the best thing was that we never knew what our next project was going to be which was very exciting for me. Then comes around middle school, I found myself improving a lot, around this time I was drawing a lot of portraits and practicing facial features. My art teacher would come by and be impressed with my art and encouraged me when I go into high school that I should definitely apply for AP art( for those who aren’t sure what AP means: it stands for: Advanced Placement), I didn’t have big confidence in where my art was at the time so I started thinking to myself am I good enough to be in that high of a art class? What if I don’t make it in the class? And then of course what a lot of artist deal with is comparing artwork to one another and that was a big struggle of mines. So I thought about it and I had to think if this was something I really want to grow in and be committed to. After hearing my art teacher believing in my work and pushing me as well as my family, they all saw me improving in my art and drawing all the time, so hearing their thoughts and believing in me really helped build up the confidence to believe in myself that I am good enough to send in my works to be in the AP art class. And guess what? Your girl made it through! I remember my portfolio we had to send in five pieces of art that all deal with the same focus which mines was horses! I love horses so I had to of course put it into art which you guys will see in the gallery. In High School I was in AP art all four years. And graduated and was accepted to a college where I can major in Studio, Art and that’s where I found my love for oil painting but also drawing digitally in various styles and things from movie rooms to character designs to portraits digitally and many more! I’ve learned a lot in college but what I found out was my favorite style which is Surrealism art. Seeing and learning about this art style in art history drove a spark in me and really intrigued me. One of my favorite surrealism masterpiece is the "The Persistence of Memory" created by my favorite surreal artist Salvador Dalí. The piece is gorgeous I love the fact that with surrealism art you can interpret it the way you see it. It’s a story that you can capture in your own eye view. Bringing a lot of questions to your head like what is going on in this painting? But also it’s so beautiful I can’t stop looking at it! Which was my thought on The "Persistence of Memory" piece so of course I had to draw my version of this beautiful piece for one of my art final projects which is in the back ground of this.
